Dear Praying and Supporting Friends,

Ministry News

What an amazing end and beginning we have had to our years.  December is the start of summer vacation here in Brazil.  We were surprised that we had several visitors in December.  We hit the ground running in January.  In the first 18 days of January, I preached over 20 times!  We went to Catalao to teen camp for the first two weeks.  What a privilege we had to take two of our teens with us to camp.  Lee, our son, and Julia joined us for camp.

Lee and MarcelinhoLee was a counselor and during the week he had a young man surrender to be a missionary to the Muslims during one of his devotionals.  Marcelinho had been struggling with God’s calling till he heard Lee teach them that night and God confirmed in his heart that he should be a missionary!  Praise the Lord.

Julia was a co-counselor and was able to lead one of the young girls in her room to the Lord!  Rebekah and I both counseled a number of young people on a variety of topics.  Praise the Lord, Rebekah was able to help a young lady who needed some extra love during camp.

preaching at campI taught each day on creation vs. evolution with a spiritual emphasis and application to each message. After each message, the kids would line up with questions.  Even the pastors would come and ask things.

Here are some of the responses we received: ” Mrs. Rebekah encouraged me to always be firm in the ways of the Lord.  Pastor Bryan, your messages helped us know for certain that God is perfect and everything God does is perfect too!”- Gessica.

” How marvelous is our God.  Thank you for being very clear in your messages.”-Pastor Jamil

“Thank you for your counsel and care.  thank you for taking time with me.  Thank you for your example.  Thank you for everything!” – Victoria Rebeca

As soon as camp was done we headed further north to the city of Goiana and I preached another creation conference there.  It was amazing to see how many kids from camp worked it out to journey with us and continue to learn.  Once again we were blessed to answer many questions and calm many doubts about the Bible.  We have been asked to consider coming back there every year to help the people grow in their faith and knowledge of the Bible.  It was a busy, exhausting but fulfilling time.

Praise the Lord, our church did well in our absence.  The people were faithful and the church is doing well.

This year we are praying very specifically for revival in our city and in Brazil.  Brazil is on a precipice.  We need God to step in before we lose all of our rights to worship the Lord.  After 12 years under socilistic leadership, the country is in ruins financially and morally.  We are begging God to strengthen our church spiritually and bring us people who are really searching for truth, not just another “religious” experience.  This year we plan to walk every street in our city and pray over it.  We will also finish handing a John and Romans to every house in the city this year.

Our little “homeschool helps” has grown.  Last year Rebekah taught two children.  This year we have 2 more who are joining.  The second two will continue to attend public school during one period of the day and then will come to our home, three days a week,  to learn what the Bible says to keep them grounded in the faith.  Here in Brazil the educational board is pushing all schools, public or private(that includes religious schools) to teach that we are born with no gender and we can decide.  We desperately need to teach our children what God says in his word.  With all the government regulations we cannot open a Christian school with any ease so this is our alternative.

Prayer Requests:

  1. Revival in our city and in Brazil
  2. That we will be successful in handing out John and Romans to every house this year.
  3. Continued health and strength for Rebekah and I.
  4. For our group at “homeschool helps” to really learn the Bible and be ready to stand against the teaching at the public school.

In His Service,

Bryan, Rebekah, & Lee Johnson
